I am an aerial rope artist, teacher, and researcher dedicated to the exploration of movement through

knots and sensory awareness.

After completing my Master’s studies in Contemporary Circus Practices at DOCH in June 2022, I

participated in the pilot year of ICCAR (International Circus Centre for Artistic Research), directed

by Roberto Magro. Prior to this, I trained in Étienne Decroux’s mime technique at Moveo in

Barcelona and graduated from Circomedia in Bristol and the National Centre for Circus Arts in

London in 2014.

I am a member of NèonTeatro, a theatre company based in Sicily that works with individuals of

diverse abilities and with whom I have worked and performed with since 2014, including at the Teatro Antico di Taormina.

My work revolves around the transformative potential of restrictions, both physical and conceptual,

as a catalyst for creative exploration. Restriction is the underlying thread that connects all my

creations and research projects.

​

Currently, I am writing the first book on Rope Manipulation, which is set to be published in 2027: an approach to aerial rope designed to help practitioners explore their creative potential within the confined, yet expansive, space the rope offers.

​

I am also interested in creating immersive experiences that challenge our perceptions of space,

freedom, and limitation. In my most recent project, Isola-Ta, I delve into the intersection of circus

and technology, investigating how bodies and objects can coexist and transform within a shared

space.

​

As a creator, researcher, and performer, I believe that every work of art begins with the voice of the

artist, a voice that is as unique. I value the individuality of each artist, and I believe that each and

every body, in its uniqueness, carries within it a profound potential for expression. My work seeks

to honour and amplify this personal voice, allowing it to emerge through the body’s relationship

with the rope.

Communication between bodies is at the heart of my practice. It is through learning each others’

language, each body’s unique way of moving and expressing that true connection is formed. For

me, objects are not merely inanimate; they are bodies in their own right. The manipulation of an

object is a process of understanding its full potential, its capacity to communicate, move, and

transform. The rope is an extension of the body, an intimate partner in a dialogue of movement and

meaning. It is both a tool of constraint and a gateway to liberation. Rope shaped invisible doors open

spaces of imagination, urging me to explore new forms of physical expression and connect more

deeply with my own instincts and discovering new possibilities.

Structured improvisation and play are fundamental tools within my choreographic research that

allow movement to emerge organically, driven by intuition and the body’s inherent knowledge. I

trust in the process of discovery, allowing the movement to lead the way.
